#43

My love affair with Corvettes started in the late 1950's. I purchased my first corvette in 1961---a new white '61 with red interior for $3,800:

I currently own a body-off restored 1962----white/red interior---the 101st assembled for the 1962 model year.  In 2002 I replaced the '62 fluted grille with the grill teeth of a '60 corvette:

Another picture shows my grandkids (Kaitlin & Shannon) sneaking a peak at what someday could be theirs to share:

Looks like the love affair for them is starting at ages 8 & 9!

I first saw the CE in Corvette Magazine.com "C1 looks for C5" in August 2001.  I planned to send my 2002 White Convertible to ATT late this year for a return early in spring of 2004; but when Rich McCormack's car (#27) was delivered in May 2003, I decided not to wait and sent my C5 to ATT for a return trip in August 2003.

      My donor C5..

.. arrived at ATT on May 27.  I'm hopeful to have the car the week of Aug. 11.  That would be 11 weeks.  As of June 25 they had not started on the car yet.

My donor car is a white 2002 convertible, white top, torch red interior and automatic. Here it is:

It will come back Torch red/Torch red/White -- hopefully by August 11th!

      Update August 3, 2003

Nothing on the car.  Starting to lean more towards the week of the 18th.  Hope it doesn't go to the week of the 25th but I have no control...

      Update August 18, 2003

Here are four pictures of the "work-in-progress"!
